The cab can also act as a cushion in the event of a collision with other objects while the forklift is in motion.

When an operator works on an electric forklift without a cab,

Aspects that may have an impact
Limitation of side vision,
The frame and sidewalls of the cab can block the side view to some extent compared to an open electric forklift.
For example, when handling loads through narrow aisles or working close to shelves,
the operator may not be able to see the side of the forklift truck as far from the obstacle
as he could have done before directly with his after-view.
If the width of the aisle is only a little wider than the forklift,
his restricted field of view may cause the operator to be more cautious during operation
and may even affect the speed of operation.

Some cabs may have some structure on top which may have an effect on the view above.

For example, instrument panels may be designed to be small and
located in the operator's lower field of vision to avoid blocking important forward views.

To compensate for the lack of field of view, many electric forklift trucks
with additional cabs will be equipped with a reversing camera and mirrors.
The reversing camera can show the situation behind the forklift clearly on the display screen inside the cab,
and the operator can visualise whether there are any obstacles or people at the rear when reversing.
The mirrors are carefully positioned to help the operator see parts of the sides and rear,
expanding the field of vision.
